The Faculty - Humanities position is a 12-month, full-time faculty position with responsibility for instruction in expository writing, developmental writing, and Humanities course needs as well as other service and scholarship, commensurate with rank.

Serve as instructor for undergraduate composition and Humanities courses such as Expository Writing I, Expository Writing II, Academic Reading and Writing, and Humanities courses to be developed. The specialization for Humanities courses to be developed is open, and may include areas such as film, non-fiction, healthcare humanities, and/or others. Work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff in the School of Arts and Sciences. Engage in service assignments related to the School of Arts & Sciences, committee work, and ongoing assessment. Participate in curriculum development for language courses; program support as international student population expands; other duties as assigned. Produce scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual. Contribute to the Center for Healthcare Humanities. Participate in Open House and other College-wide student recruitment and orientation events.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Department Chair or the Dean of Arts and Sciences.

Rank is commensurate with education and experience.


Required: Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in English, Humanities, Cultural Studies, Medical Humanities, or a related field College teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence Record of scholarly activities and evidence of potential for continuing professional development Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to work effectively with a culturally and academically diverse student population Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues Commitment to undergraduate education and student success Ability to mentor and advise undergraduates with diverse career interests
