The Section of Hematology/Oncology*http://www.bumc.bu.edu/hematology/, Department of Medicinehttp://www.bumc.bu.edu/medicine/*, Boston University School of Medicine at Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking hematologists and medical oncologists to join our unique academic environment to provide clinical care and engage in research, clinical trials and teaching. The ideal candidate will have a vision for a successful academic career with a clinical, basic science or translational focus. Academic rank, start-up funding and compensation will depend on qualifications and experience.

BMC is the largest safety net hospital in New England. It is the primary teaching affiliate of the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM). Our mission is to provide exceptional care without exception. The design and development of more effective screening and treatment strategies for such patients represent important programmatic and academic goals for the section, as well as creative opportunities for academic program development. At the same time, basic and translational research opportunities within our section are strengthened by the resources of BUSM’s Cancer Center http://www.bumc.bu.edu/cancercenter/ (under the leadership of Avrum Spira MD) which serves as the focal point for a large portfolio of cancer-related research, both on the Medical and Charles River BU campuses.

Engagement with teaching is essential given that the section sponsors fellowship programs in both Hematology/Oncology and Geriatric Oncology*http://www.bumc.bu.edu/geriatrics/*. BMC’s Cancer Clinical Trials Office supports a wide variety of investigator-initiated, industry sponsored and NCI Cooperative Group clinical trials.

In addition, the section collaborates closely with The Center of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease*https://www.bu.edu/sicklecell/,the largest such program in New England, and The Amyloidosis Centerhttp://www.bu.edu/amyloid/*,an internationally renowned and recognized center and pioneer in diagnostics and treatment for systemic amyloid diseases.
