DIVISION: Boston Collaborative High School REPORTS TO: Head of School ACADEMIC/NON-ACADEMIC: Non-Academic POSITION OVERVIEW: Boston Collaborative High School (BCHS) is seeking an innovative Program Director to work with the middle school program within the school. BCHS is a non-traditional, alternative public high school serving 228 students from grades 7-12. As an alternative school, BCHS provides multiple ways for students to access learning: project-based, competency-based, online, and traditional. The Program Director will manage multiple tasks associated with the middle school programs within BCHS and work to establish, implement and maintain systems that will ensure a highly effective and well-functioning learning environment, assessment procedures, data and data collection systems, and personnel management. The Program Director must be able to work with multiple stakeholders and school partners to help deliver the best experiences possible for BCSH students. RESPONSIBILITIES: Systems and Infrastructure Develop/Maintain systems across middle school programs within the school to ensure the smooth functioning of schedules and programs (to include daily duties of entry, lunch, dismissal) Support the development of a master schedule Support the fidelity of school culture systems Support and manage middle school enrollment operations Partner with District Operational Leaders to ensure transition systems are effective and efficient Work with Staff, students and families of incoming students to ensure effective transition Monitor student placements and programs for effectiveness and efficiency Support Intake systems-Transitions for students and families: Transportation/School calendar Establish weekly/monthly meetings with middle school team members to discuss ongoing systems of middle school programs and progress Establish, monitor State Assessment/Testing systems - Access Next/WIDA Work closely with school partners to leverage opportunities for student success Recognize and identify areas of concern and communicate the need for adjustments Ensure the sustainability of middle school systems and monitor system functionality Perform analysis and assessment of systems on a regular basis Assessments Ensure assessment schedules are followed Order, receive, ship, safeguard, distribute and account for all testing materials Ensure accurate upload of assessment data: MCAS, WIDA, MAP (and other state assessments) Ensure all assessments are properly staffed Ensure all staff are properly trained and tests accurately proctored Data Management - Middle School Help to develop, coordinate and administer data retrieval and collection systems, surveys, (school climate, attendance, programming, health and wellness, safety, etc.) to help identify promising practices/address areas of improvement Report data to proper entities/programs Help to identify and define systemic patterns/problems, monitor ongoing efforts to address challenges Personnel Management - Middle School Manage/maintain daily staff absences, ensure classroom coverage Support the evaluation of all non-instructional and support personnel QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree or higher Minimum of 2 years experience working in data collection and reporting Experience in program and/or project management, evaluation, and analysis Familiarity with state and other district assessments Mastery of Office Suite; Excel required Strong organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create trusting relationships Successful experience with planning and conducting meeting; and facilitation and training methodologies Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities guiding investments in people and systems (Acute attention to detail and project completion) Demonstrate capability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, such as school staff, school partners, families, youth, community members and other essential internal and external partners Comfort with handling multiple projects simultaneously as well as working with rapidly shifting priorities Experience working with diverse student populations Commitment to self-reflections and ongoing learning Experience developing and monitoring systems for quality improvement Current authorization to work in the United States An understanding of and commitment to gain greater understanding of what is necessary for an urban school system to enjoy continuous improvement in an increasingly complex and competitive environment. A deeply held and unyielding belief in the overarching mission of public education. QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED: Post graduate degree in a relevant discipline 3-5 years experience in urban setting Familiarity with Boston and Boston Public Schools Terms: Managerial, Tier C, Full-time, 12 Months NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223-day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or head of schools of the school. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
