Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work with businesses toensure best practices around taxonomy construction and work withenterprise-level team to govern implementation of controlled vocabularies.

  • Ensure global understandingand execution against PLA metadata requirements (by capability)

  • Be the single point ofcontact for content enrichment governance/management for all of Global Product.

  • Work with CIO organizationto vet new technologies that may enhance taxonomy management capabilities, andtrain relevant business stakeholders in the usage of adopted tools.

  • Provide thought leadershipacross Pearson around relational mapping strategies that will semanticallyinterrelate learning objectives, assessment items, taxonomy structures andmetadata elements.

  • Lead cross-functionaltaskforce(s) to establish and standardize a scalable workflow that convergesproduct data and content metadata.

  • Work with businessstakeholders to explore opportunities to leverage open source standards in theorganization and management of Pearson content.

  • Deliver guidance documentsand hands-on training related to development/remediation of content in accordwith Next Gen product requirements.

  • Lead Content EnrichmentProgram and ensure that Jira is updated to reflect CITE and Core ContentPlatform roadmaps and deliverables.

  • Own dashboard to trackprogress in implementation of Content Enrichment.

  • Operationalize contentenrichment as standard practice for all products and build out budget model toensure resources are lined up to deliver enriched products.


  • Participate incross-functional team to define product specific learner outcomes

  • Responsible for managingcapability dependencies across other key groups (Product Model, Mobile, PLA,Globalization, etc.) and ensuring capability delivery for product categories.

  • Accountable for the ongoingidentification and progress of innovative technology solutions thatsignificantly advance the customer-value offered by the capability

  • Responsible for leading across functional team (UX, LD, E&R) in designing solutions to the mostimportant problems identified and prioritized by category management.

  • Identify Product dependenciesand likely impact downstream on outcomes due to strategic and developmentdecisions

  • Deliver integrated deliverymodels to develop and implement technology and business strategies that provideoptimal learner experiences and impact on learner outcomes

  • Communicates and directsPearson's vision and how Product capability overall plan and how it contributesto category plan.

  • Translates specific marketopportunity or customer needs and expectations into product tool and componentdesign.

  • Collects inputs and datafrom other stakeholders to assess options and determine the most efficient andcost-effective approach to building product capabilities.

  • Acts as members ofcross-functional product teams.

  • Provides input to the teamon translating customer and technical requirements into well-engineered, testedand deployed product capabilities.

  • Interfaces withstakeholders to determine feasibility for functional capabilities to meetcustomer expectations and needs.

  • Anticipates external orinternal obstacles to products delivery or profitability and ensures thatproduct teams work within parameters of budget.


  • Undergraduate degreerequired, preferably in Library and/or Information Sciences; relevant graduatedegree preferred. High GPA expected.

  • 7 to 10 years of experiencein a role related to education technology, preferably involvingtaxonomy/ontology management and development of metadata schemas and preferablywith experience in product development.

  • A clear understanding of theimportance of markup languages in achieving interoperability via standards.

  • Some familiarity with querylanguages such as SPARQL, SQL and Xquery, along with RDF data modeling (andknowledge representation languages such as OWL).

  • Strong ability to build credibilitywith leaders and drive initiatives across the organization.

  • Outstanding written andverbal communication skills. This is a global role, and communication will bekey.

  • Able to work both on a team(as member and/or leader) and independently to deliver results.

  • Preference to work in afast-paced, dynamic environment.
