Position Summary: Teaching Assistant-Kennedy Day School Under the tutelage of special educators in the Kennedy Day School, the Teaching Assistant will offer a unique combination of integrated special education, therapeutic and health services to student's ages 3 to 22 with multiple, intensive special needs and challenges. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Utilize systematic instructional approaches and support the implementation of each student's IEP and daily schedule of events and activities. · Encourage active participation in learning. · Interpret students' needs and other pertinent information from subtle expressions of sound, physical orientation, gesture and facial expression and seek to communicate constructive and critical information in a timely and effective manner. · Support learning activities, mobility, communication and personal care with students throughout the day, often using assistive technology and adaptive equipment. Qualifications: · Bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant experience · Ability to plan and organize work efficiently and address problems as they arise. · Ability to be flexible and adjust to changes in a dynamic environment. · Other duties may be assigned as required at the discretion of the supervisor.
