Job Description: The Childrens Center Teacher shall serve as an educator and caregiver in a collaborative team setting with children 2.9 to 6 years of age in the Childrens Center under the direct supervision of the Center Director. The candidate will work a 37.5 hour work week scheduled between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. This is a 10 month unit professional benefitted position. The Childrens Center is a Lab school environment where the candidate will be expected to mentor student interns. Duties & Responsibilities: The Teacher will participate in all educational activities of the Childrens Center according to sound practices and established guidelines. The Teacher is responsible for evaluating childrens progress and communicating that progress to parents. The Teacher develops, on a weekly basis, educational plans, which are also shared with parents. The Teacher maintains an orderly physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development of children. The Teacher conducts daily activities for a group of children that enables them to accomplish the established objectives of the program. The Teacher supports social and emotional development of the children and provides positive guidance. The Teacher will work with assigned students in the Child Care Education and Administration /Human Service Practicums. The Teacher participates in all educational activities of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). The Teacher attends staff meetings and other meetings called by the Director and/or college community. The Teacher participates in parent conferences and assists parents in helping to establish a favorable relationship between home and center. The Teacher assists in maintaining the necessary supplies and equipment. The Teacher maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas by attending professional development activities. The Teacher performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or closely related field required Thirty-six (36) months experience required Must work well in a diverse community college setting. Exhibits ease in relating to young children, parents, and staff. Exhibits creativity, imagination and initiative in developing a variety of educational activities for young children. Willingness to participate in some after-center activities, possibly some evening and/or weekend events. Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain valid MA Department of Early Education and Care certification. Must maintain valid Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification.
