ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROGRAM ASSOCIATE OF DIVERSITY INITIATIVES, Office of the Dean for Graduate Education (ODGE), to assist and collaborate with the assistant director and assistant dean of diversity initiatives by providing administrative, logistical, and coordination support for ODGE recruitment and retention programs. Responsibilities include providing support for hiring and training program staff and the coordination and planning of program logistics; responding to unexpected needs/situations during programs; assisting with student recruitment, application, selection, and enrollment processes for the programs and answering inquiries; facilitating communication with current and prospective graduate students, including a weekly email digest and webpage updates; and greeting visitors and students and creating a welcoming environment in the front office and at events.
REQUIRED: at least three years’ related experience, preferably in higher education and event coordination; meticulous attention to detail; strong organizational skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to foster a supportive, student-centered environment and to build relationships and assess and balance the needs of various stakeholders; initiative and ability to use independent judgment for significant periods of time; experience working with individuals and groups with a wide array of identity and life experiences (gender, sexuality, class, race/ethnicity, disability, culture); understanding of and willingness to learn about diversity- and social justice-related issues, trends, and needs; ability to pack, transport, and set up recruitment/event materials/supplies; discretion with confidential information; and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and Adobe Acrobat. Seek a flexible self-starter who can set priorities and juggle competing demands in a busy, team-oriented environment. Familiarity with the following or similar programs/platforms is desirable: WordPress, MailChimp, WebMoira, SlideRoom, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, FileMaker Pro, and Google Calendar.
