Duties & Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for Doctoral Programs, the Assistant Director will manage the development, planning, and execution of programmatic elements throughout the three-year Ed.L.D. experience.

The Assistant Director serves as a core member of our Doctoral Programs staff, maintaining close relationships with students, faculty, and administrative colleagues throughout Harvard University.

Responsibilities include:

Curriculum Management
• In consultation with the Ed.L.D. Faculty Director, manage the Year 1 and Year 2 core curriculum, including recommending and implementing course sequencing, scheduling, and execution
• Manage January-term school system visits including co-developing academic requirements and related policy with Faculty Director
• Oversee the Ed.L.D. Leadership Coaching program, including evaluating, purchasing, and administering summer/winter assessments
• Co-construct and facilitate cohort meetings and professional development opportunities for first-year students
• Analyze data to provide student progress recommendations to Associate Dean and Faculty Director
• With the Faculty Director, manage the student advising process
• Oversee design and execution of a 2-week Program Launch comprised of academic workshops, orientation activities, and cohort-building events
• Manage Ed.L.D. Program and Year 1 core course websites in collaboration with teaching faculty

Admissions (in collaboration with Doctoral Programs Administrator)
• Co-manage faculty and student engagement in recruitment events
• Attend committee meetings and assist in preparing for and staffing Ed.L.D. Interview Days
• Respond to inquiries from prospective applicants and admitted students

Fellowships
• Manage the fellowship process including application distribution and selection for all Ed.L.D-affiliated awards (Ambach, Summer, and Walton Family Foundation)
• Advise students on appropriate fellowship opportunities

Staff and General Program Support
• Supervise the part-time Doctoral Programs Staff Assistant, including project management, feedback, and time approval
• With the Associate Dean, track curriculum budget, making recommendations for any necessary changes
• Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of professional experience.

Additional Qualifications
Master's degree desired. Superior interpersonal and communication skills; comfort navigating and negotiating across diverse audiences ( all stakeholders including faculty, students, staff). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; discretion with confidential information. Ability to manage quickly changing priorities and adjust work flow accordingly. Previous experience working within academia preferred. High degree of professionalism. Comfort with technology, including course management systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
