Duties & Responsibilities
In partnership with the Assistant Dean of Student Life, design, develop, implementation, and assess signature, College-wide leadership development programs for students. These programs can include, but limited to: skill-building workshops, lectures, retreats, and panel discussions pertaining to leadership development.

Advise and support the College Events Board, and other student organizations in planning inclusive social events on and off campus that support Harvard college affinity and a sense of community. This could include, but is not limited to, offering programming advice and assistance, mentoring organizational leadership, attending organizational meetings and events, assessing organizational risk and ensuring compliance with College policy, developing training opportunities and materials, promoting financial competency through fiscal management accountability and skills development, and providing connection to campus resources.

Event and Program Support - Manage event planning and coordination that involve campus facilities. Meet with students to provide information and guidance to determine accurate event specifications; identify and coordinate programmatic needs (with caterers, audio-visual concessionaires and security) to arrange all necessary equipment and services for events; direct the activities of all sub-contractors as well as vendors and supervise these vendors during events. This position provides on-site supervision of events, including evenings and weekends. Work closely with student involvement staff to execute student organization events. Oversee, advise, and implement student-driven programming that is safe, inclusive, and aligned with the mission of Harvard College.

Administrative - Provide high-level administrative support for a fast paced, constantly evolving and student-facing office. Help maintain/prepare mass emails for special projects, update and maintain the event services database system. Maintain an accurate record of expenses associated with programming efforts. Prepare and distribute daily events agendas and marketing materials.

Other - Serve as a collaborative member of the Office of Student Life and the Student Involvement staff and lend support with various office programs and projects and other duties as assigned. This entails serving on department and University committees, participating in departmental policy and procedure discussions, and serving as a liaison to other University departments, staffing university and department and student organization events.


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Three years of experience with creating student organization and student leadership training curriculum that highlights diversity training, leadership development, and student innovation. A minimum of one year of experience managing projects or programs required. Event planning experience is required.





Additional Qualifications
Three years of experience in working with students and advising student organizations in a student affairs or student life environment preferred. Experience in organizational bookkeeping or budget management is preferred. Prior facility or space management experience is preferred. Prior experience in the preparation and presentation of workshops preferred. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and conflict resolution techniques.
Must be able to work independently and carry out assignments and projects without detailed instructions. Evening and weekend work required, including flexibility of work hours and availability to attend to emergent situations on campus as needed.
