Job Description

ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR STUDENT CONDUCT, Dean for Student Life-Office of Student Citizenship, to provide direction at a strategic and policy planning level for the Office of Student Citizenship and represent the interests of MIT in the student conduct process. Will ensure that the student conduct function is based upon educational principles, community standards, and MIT's fundamental values and upholds honesty, integrity, and respect for the rights of others; and be responsible for advising and supporting the Committee on Discipline (COD)--a standing committee of the faculty--charged with adjudicating cases of alleged misconduct by any students brought to its attention as well as the work of student-based judicial panels such as the Interfraternity Council Judicial Committee (IFC JudComm). Will report to the senior associate dean, Residential Education.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a master's degree in a related discipline; a minimum of seven years’ experience in student conduct, alternative dispute resolution, and/or policy development in a higher education environment; excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build strong relationships with members of diverse constituencies, and a successful track record of collaboration in achieving objectives; a strong sense of how and when to engage the participation of different constituencies; budget and supervisory experience; proven ability to work collaboratively, raise issues, and facilitate decisions; and excellent judgment. Seek someone who is skilled in working with students, faculty, and staff and is knowledgeable regarding student conduct programs and policies at colleges and universities nationwide. Job #14447-Q
