Duties & Responsibilities Reports to the MCZ's Director, Collections Operations. Duties include facilitating projects pertaining to best-practice standards and/or museum-wide initiatives, gathering data for Collections Ops initiatives in multiple collections, record keeping and other administrative functions required for MCZ-wide exhibition loans, environmental monitoring and integrated pest management, helping to coordinate and train department staff. Other duties may include functions in relation to the MCZ-wide collection database; accessions, preservation, maintenance, and renovation of collection; collection-related clerical duties; responds to pertinent inquiries and visitors to the MCZ collections and facilities; and executes related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications College background in biology. Minimum of two years’ experience in museum procedures, protocols, and best-practice standards required, including knowledge of systematic collections, collection databases and museum procedures. Experience and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Additional Qualifications Position requires knowledge and discretion of confidential information and management decisions. Detail oriented with a high level of organization, ability to handle a variety of tasks, shifting priorities, and to work independently as well as part of a team.
