Duties & Responsibilities The Instructional Designer is a member of AAD Technology Education in Alumni Affairs and Development. Part of AAD Technology & Support Services, AAD Technology Education provides training, user account security administration and end user support for the full suite of alumni relations and development system applications including Ellucian’s Advance, staff use of Alumni.Harvard Engagement Applications, and AAD’s Qlik applications. The AAD Technology Education group serves all members of the AA&D community across all school and units in the University as well as other users of the AA&D system including central administration, financial offices, Harvard Management Company, and career services offices.The Instructional Designer & BI Training Manager has a primary responsibility for developing and delivering training in a number of applications, principally Advance and Qlik. Training is approached with a combination of both standard training methodology and creative approaches to instructional design. Duties for this role include the following.• Identify training needs for Advance product, determine training methodology, create curriculum for both Instructor-Led Trainings (ILT) and Computer-Based Trainings (CBT).• Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop or refine staff training programs for BI Applications. This may include ILTs, CBTs, workshops, labs, etc.• Manage training for BI Applications including building training schedules, assessing training gaps and creating new or revised curriculum or other materials needed.• Deliver classroom and 1:1 trainings, conduct instructor-led online trainings.• Perform Level 2 course evaluations for trainees to assess comprehension and command of the teaching points, provide feedback to trainees.• Manage communications and marketing to promote Business Intelligence applications and their ongoing enhancements to all AAD audiences. Additional areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):• updates to policies & procedures manuals for all applications including online help documentation,• level 2 end user support,• assist with design, revision and delivery of AAD Technology Education related presentations to groups of users at the University, and• Work closely with AAD Technology & Support Services business analysts to research, evaluate, test and implement new features/functionality in existing applications as well as for new application releases.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree at an accredited university with a minimum of four years of experience with instructional design. Experience with delivering training programs in a range of environments including classroom training, demos and 1:1 classes. Excellent communication and written communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office including Publisher & Visio.
Additional Qualifications Experience with Adobe Captivate and/or Articulate Storyline skills a plus. Prior experience with Ellucian’s Advance product a plus. Must be able to establish professional relationships and provide customer service with colleagues across all levels of seniority with poise & tact. The ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is essential.
