If so, come join the Global Performance and Operations Learning team as an Instructional Designer. As an Instructional Designer, you will work collaboratively with SMEs and other stakeholders to design and develop training programs for engineers who work on operating Akamai’s Intelligent Network platform.
As an Instructional Designer you will be responsible for such things as:
Designing and developing training solutions that include classroom instruction, online self-paced courses, and supporting documentation by working collaboratively with Global Performance and Operations staff and subject matter experts.
Synthesizing, editing, and organizing technical material gathered from multiple sources to design engaging learning experiences.
Managing course development projects effectively at various stages of development at once.
Driving projects to completion by establishing, communicating, and meeting project deadlines.
Cultivating and maintaining strong, effective, working relationships with stakeholders and SMEs.
Assessing training effectiveness and identify training needs by working closely with the QA team and stakeholders.
Keeping the training needs of the target audience at the forefront by staying abreast of changes in process and procedure.
Remaining current with trends in instructional design and course production.

Global Performance and Operations monitors and maintains the world's most highly distributed computing platform to achieve the highest possible availability, agility, safety, efficiency, and scalability.
Required Education and Experience:
*Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or
Relevant experience and a Master’s degree or PhD or
Relevant Professional Experience
- 2years of experience designing and developing online and instructor-led courses with the instructional design process.
2+ years of experience with graphic design.
2+ years of experience working collaboratively with SMEs.
2year of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously that involve coordinating the work of multiple stakeholders.
1years of experience editing or writing about technical or complex subject matter.
1+ year of experience working with multi-media based authoring tools such as Articulate 360 and Captivate.
1+ year of experience delivering instructor-led training.
1+ year of experience working with learning management systems.
- Master’s degree in Education, Technology in Education, Technical Writing, or Journalism.
Exceptional communication skills.
Excellent technical writing skills.
Ability to take complex technical material and transform it into easy to understand and engaging online courses, documentation, and instructor-led course materials.
Strong understanding of adult learning theory and ability to apply it to the design and development of training materials.
Strong ability to identify content gaps in material and the corresponding questions to ask in order to obtain the needed information.
Ability to maintain and build collaborative working relationships with SMEs and stakeholders.
