Duties & Responsibilities In order to support faculty developing courses for the new General Education Program debuting in 2018, the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning seeks to hire one fellow experienced in designing assignments and course syllabi. The position will be embedded within the Bok Center’s Learning Lab, and will report to the Director of the Learning Lab with day-to-day oversight from the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning who manages the Bok Center’s relationship with General Education. The postdoctoral fellow will dock with faculty, Bok senior staff, graduate student fellows, and undergraduate fellows to: (1) help faculty clarify their objectives for their courses (2) brainstorm, prototype, and test assignments in alignment with those objectives; (3) support faculty as they deliver finished assignments and learning experiences in their courses; (4) help to manage the assessment of completed courses; and (5) report on the results of the Learning Lab’s faculty collaborations.

Basic Qualifications Master’s degree in a field relevant to the Program in General Education is required.3+ years of related experience. Experience with teaching at the college level.

Additional Qualifications Strong candidates for the role will be creative teachers, reflective about the various modes of instruction within their own disciplines, and eager to think in interdisciplinary ways across various media. Though they are not expected to demonstrate technical proficiency in all genres of educational assessment, or in all forms of multimodal learning technologies, they should be able to recognize how such tools can be used to create meaningful pedagogical experiences when appropriate to a course. PhD preferred.
