Duties & Responsibilities The Hekstra lab in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology is looking for a Research Assistant who can perform a number of tasks in the area of molecular biology, protein biochemistry, purification and crystallization as well as some general laboratory tasks. Duties will include: performing protein purification, mainly by column chromatography, recording performed work and results, designing and setting up crystallization trials, submitting ordering requests and other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications At least 2 years college or equivalent work experience, preferably in a laboratory or research environment. Knowledge of biology or biological sciences is required.
Additional Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent of education plus relevant experience. Excellent organizational, communication, attention to detail, computer and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team.
Additional Information This is a one year term position; however, candidates who are interested in a shorter duration of employment (three-month minimum term position) will be considered.
