Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.Department:GeneticsPre-Employment Screening:Criminal, IdentitySchedule:35 hrs/wk, Monday-FridayJob Function:Research Duties & Responsibilities:This Research Assistant I will be working on a project to understand how epigenetics and mitochondrial function contribute to aging and age-related diseases, specifically Alzheimer’s disease. This position will be largely focused on using transgenic mice for both in vivo and in vitro experiments. The candidate for this position will perform mouse husbandry, behavioral testing, basic molecular biology and cell culture techniques, tissue preparation/sectioning, and histochemical assays. The applicant should have prior animal handling experience, have demonstrated abilities in many of the laboratory techniques described, and should be able to work independently or with minimal supervision. The candidate will help to support both data generation and analysis as well as other laboratory tasks that support the functioning and success of this project. The ideal candidate will meet regularly to communicate their results. This position will be supervised by one of the senior team members working on this project, so the research assistant can expect mentoring and acquisition of new skills.
