Formal training in global health and global health research.Additional Information:This is a term position with an end date of 12 months from hire date.Department:Global Health and Social MedicinePre-Employment Screening:Identity Job Function:Research Duties & Responsibilities:The Department of Global Health and Social Medicine (DGHSM) at Harvard Medical School applies social science and humanities research to constantly improve the practice of medicine, the delivery of treatment, and the development of health care policies locally and worldwide. To maintain our leadership in the field, the Department must: underline our commitment to teaching and research in global health equity; maintain and enhance support for “effector arms,” with a focus on implementation and delivery; strengthen models of graduate and post-graduate training, including through global health and social medicine advanced degree programs, residencies, and fellowships; and coordinate efforts throughout Harvard to build a common agenda around global health equity. The Research Assistant performs a variety of complex duties to support a DGHSM faculty member. Working both independently and in collaboration with others, the Research Assistant will be responsible for supporting and otherwise contributing to research products with a global health focus, including but not limited to: coordinating research team and other writing collaborations; preparing literature reviews, grant proposals, and manuscripts for publication; preparation (including background research, formatting, and editing) of journals, articles, white papers, reviews, and presentations. In addition, the Research Assistant will be responsible for tracking IRB submissions. The Research Assistant is responsible for establishing and meeting deadlines, and facilitating communication among key players from Harvard Medical School and across Harvard University. The research assistant will also be responsible for scheduling meetings, booking travel, and processing reimbursements.
