We are currently seeking a dedicated RN to join our team at Falmouth Hospital. Participates in patient and parent/caregiver teaching. Demonstrated leadership by working cooperatively with nursing and other patient care team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing in the clinical setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Practices according to entity mandatory requirements Practices according to department expectations Practices with a Customer Service approach to all activities Cares for patients utilizing the nursing process Attends mandatory competency and skills days as listed by manager Provides care as part of the interdisciplinary team Utilizes internal and external resources Provides effective patient, parent/caregiver teaching Documents according to entity/department guidelines Administers medications in a safe manner Provides care according to the best practice standards of care in nursing Identifies signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and reports as required by law Cares for the emotional needs of the patient as well as the parent/caregiver Recognizes signs of pain in the infant/nonverbal pediatric patient Utilizes appropriate pain scales for infants and children Manages the patient with pain Provides a safe environment for child and family Utilizes techniques of time management effectively Maintains appropriate nursing license Maintains up-to-date CPR certification and PALS certification Addresses the age specific needs of patients from infancy to adolescence Performs skills safely and according to specific policies and procedures Manages patients with intravenous therapy Manages patients with respiratory difficulties, including asthma, RSV, croup, bronchiolitis and pneumonia Utilizes respiratory equipment properly and effectively to care for patient Manages patient with gastrointestinal diagnoses, including vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and others Manages and promotes safety for the pediatric patient with seizure diagnosis Cares for pediatric patients post-operatively Addresses the needs of multi-handicapped pediatric patients Demonstrates ability to properly care for children with the diagnosis of cerebral palsy Manages the infant with hyperbilirubinemia Provides care to the pediatric patient with the diagnosis of UTI/pyelonephritis Properly assesses and cares for the child with a diagnosis of Failure to Thrive Uses Meditech appropriately and accurately Responds appropriately to emergency and urgent situations SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, previous pediatric experience required for per diem staff. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Maintains BLS certification, and PALS certification within 6 months of hire
