State of Massachusetts EMS Program Coordinator in Stow, Massachusetts

Job Description:

  • Responsible to review educational material generated at MFA for OEMS content

  • Complete and submit all state OEMS outlines for approval annually

  • Manage OEMS list and approved #’s

  • Manage OEMS webpage on MFA site

  • Maintain Learning Management System in regards to approved OEMS hours & #’s

  • Audit completed OEMS rosters for compliance

  • Stay current on all state OEMS regulations

  • Define EMS role for warranted MFA classes

  1. To include managing any incident on MFA campus requiring an EMS response

  2. Staffing requirements for First Aid stations

  3. Medical monitoring for all students/instructors involved in either “live” fire training or encapsulated suit HazMat training, at a minimum

  4. Maintain par stock and inventory of EMS First Aid stations and EMS bags for training programs at both Stow and Springfield locations.

  5. Administer the MFA’s defibrillator program

  • Recommends the purchase of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and visual aids designated to meet the educational needs and requirements of the Division’s programs

  • Develop new EMS courses as needed

  • Additional projects assigned by MFA management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of adult learning theory

  • Knowledge of all applicable OEMS, DOT and NREMT regulations as they relate to education for First Responders, EMTs and Paramedics

  • Knowledge of all OEMS Statewide treatment protocols

  • Minimum 10 years Fire-based EMS experience (preferably at the ALS level)

  • Understanding of all mandated reporting requirements for First Responders

  • Understanding of Accidental Exposure reporting requirements

  • Must have superior interpersonal skills

  • Must have excellent verbal & written communication skills

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint

  • Must be a team player

  • Must be well organized

  • Must have a demonstrated work record to support the skills required

Pre-requisites:

  • Must be certified Fire Instructor II

  • Must be Massachusetts OEMS certified Instructor/Coordinator

  • Paramedic or EMT certified

  • CPR instructor
