Clinical Educator needed for Staff St. Vincent Physician Services, Worcester MA


General Summary: The Clinical Educator, under the direction of the physician is responsible for overall health communication activity, and teaching patients about behaviors that promote wellness at the medical office. The Clinical Educator is also responsible for the learning experiences that provide individuals served by TPR the opportunity to make appropriate health decisions. The health educator will use appropriate strategies, and methods to facilitate health promotion and disease prevention. The health educator must have thorough understanding of the patient population and needs.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.

  2. Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.

  3. Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.

  4. Implement and manage health education strategies, interventions and programs for patients.

  5. Communicate and advocate effectively for health and health education. Translate scientific language and concepts into clear, simple and understandable information for patients and clients to maximize the potential for them to take reasonable action.

  6. Assess patient and client needs for health education, including change readiness.

  7. Help develop, identify, implement and improve patient education material and other tools that encourage healthy decisions.

  8. Conduct health education with patients and their families.

  9. Develop, monitor and assess health communication interventions and policies.

  10. Serve as a health education resource for physician practiced.

  11. Assist with training of staff for core competency and health area specific content.

  12. Work collaboratively with staff to ensure coordinated Center activities.

  13. Complete other duties as directed.

Education: High school diploma/GED and completion of an accredited nursing program. Masters in health education strongly preferred.

Certification : Current State RN nursing license. Current BLS and ACLS certification.

Experience: Must have a minimum of five years of clinical experience working in a physician office with 2 years working in a clinical educator capacity.

  2. Ability to administer IV and Injections appropriately.

  3. Ability to mix medications.

  4. Ability to use medical equipment, supplies and instruments.

  5. Ability to understand and carry out written, oral and/or graphic instructions.

  6. Ability to multi-task, manage details and organize efficiently and effectively.

  7. Ability to read, interprets, and apply policies and procedures.

  8. Ability to set priorities among multiple requests.

  9. Ability to interact with patients, medical and administrative staff, and the public effectively.

Ability to use EMR, other relevant computer hardware and software, telephone, copier, fax machine and other standard medical office equipment.
