University of Massachusetts Medical School Post Doctoral Associate in Worcester, Massachusetts

Post-doctoral fellowship positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Robert M. Kotin, University of Massachusetts Medical School, to develop viral and non-viral gene therapy approaches for treaty Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant area with experience using molecular biology techniques and cell culture is required. Experience with mouse models helpful.

The two year appointment is funded by the International Collaborative Effort, a charitable foundation dedicated for developing treatments for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The research will be conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Robert M. Kotin that involve proprietary materials and methods providing unique opportunities for an imaginative and motivated post-doctoral fellow to investigate basic issues relating to adeno-associated virus, helper virus functions, and virus - host cell interactions. In addition, there are opportunities to conduct more applied AAV vector research projects including research in regulating transgene activity and developing tissue-targeting strategies. Insights derived from these studies may prove useful for generating novel and improving gene therapy outcomes.
