University of Massachusetts Medical School Post Doctoral Associate in Worcester, Massachusetts

We seek a talented, motivated postdoc to join the laboratory of Dr. Hardy Kornfeld in the Department of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The candidate will be working on the mechanisms and pathological consequences of Mycobacterium tuberculosis-induced macrophage necrosis with a focus on neutrophilic inflammation in the mouse aerosol TB model. The work involves in vitro and in vivo experiments with virulent M. tuberculosis at BSL-3/ABSL-3 containment. Applicants should have a doctoral degree and experience in immunology and molecular biology. Experience with TB and/or cell death research is highly encouraged. Ability to work independently, be highly organized and have strong writing, verbal and interpersonal skills is required. Required Qualifications

The candidate should:

  • hold a doctoral degree

  • have experience in research on immunology

  • be able to work in a team

  • able to guide and supervise PhD students

  • possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written

The candidate must have excellent basic laboratory skills in cellular immunology, flow cytometry, and basic molecular biology techniques. Knowledge and expertise in TB and/or cell death research is highly desirable. He/she will be required to be highly motivated with a strong passion for research and with good communication skills in English.
