Position Title Post Doctoral Fellow Department FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEERING Basic Function Applications are being sought for a qualified and motivated postdoctoral fellow to conduct research in the area of wildland fire behavior and to support the development of wildland fire research at WPI, under the leadership of Professor Albert Simeoni. The primary responsibility will be to support existing projects related to wildland fire simulations and wind tunnel experiments. Fire simulations will be conducted using cutting edge CFD tools such as FDS and FireFOAM. Wind tunnel experiments will use the new WPI device, which has 6 m long testing zone with a 3 m2 section. Additional responsibilities will include research support on other projects, including field experiments and on proposals, including writing grant applications. They may also include lecturing assistance in the areas of fire dynamics and simulations. The postdoctoral fellow will be required to publish scholarly papers and to take on a mentorship role for undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate should have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and strong written and verbal communication skills. A one-year appointment is anticipated.
