GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Administrator/ Director, or designee, the Education Specialist II is responsible for coordinating curriculum scheduling, collaborating with instructors to design, implement, and assess multi-modal medical simulation. The Education Specialist II serves as a front line customer service interface to UMMS faculty as well as to external clients. They are responsible for producing technical and training documentation, administering training environments, providing multimedia support and productionin the interprofessional Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (iCELS).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiates updates and content reviews for webpage, program registration links and online tutorial resources for clientsP

  • Plans and assesses the quantity and quality of public, learner and faculty program information

  • Plans and delivers what program information will be present, and how it will be presented

  • Leads in the recruitment of per diem standardized patients, assessing overall programmatic needs and gaps to meet client needs

  • Plans and delivers relevant training programs for new per diem standardized patients

  • Delivers quality control and improvement effectiveness by collaborating with colleagues on standard courses, special initiatives and projects to optimize programming

  • Coordinates client relationships and ensures client satisfaction

  • Develops and designs the broadest possible program availability for per diem staff

  • Implements and compiles metrics on learning event impact, including program assessments on programs effectiveness

  • Initiates assessment of quality metrics by contributing to strategic discussions/decisions about services, processes, tools

  • Creates procedures, step by step processes and how-to guides for best practices in education programming operations and data management

  • Identifies patient profile needs, work with UMMS HR to recruit and hire to address any educational gaps

  • Increase volume and quality of learning materials by creating proto-type materials using standard protocols

  • Trains new standardized patients to participate in scheduled cases by analyzing phenotype and learning requirements and program objectives

  • Data and staff recruitment analysis

  • Procedure and process development

  • Understanding of case design and learning material development

  • Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • 3 year of related experience in an academic healthcare setting

  • Demonstrated ability to make independent and autonomous decisions

  • Attention to detail

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products; including an understanding of relational databases

  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve

  • Ability to travel to offsite locations

  • Previous experience in medical educations

  • Knowledge of medical simulation
