Job Summary

The Associate Director of the Center for Multicultural Advancement (CMASS) leads a dynamic team that provides innovative co-curricular cultural programs, training and services resulting in student learning, leadership development, and cross-cultural belonging for students of diverse backgrounds.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and participates in dynamic team that offers innovative co-curricular cultural programs, training and services that result in student learning, development, cross-cultural engagement and community building for students from diverse backgrounds in collaboration with personnel across Student Affairs and Academic Affairs.

  • Supports daily operations of CMASS, supervises a team of staff and develops and measures goals. Travels within work sites to administer programming and transport materials and supplies.

  • Maintains strong fiscal, administrative and data collection systems to ensure efficiency and responsible evidence-based decisions including comprehensive assessment of program and learning outcomes.

  • Develops reports and budget requests.

  • Maintains contemporary knowledge of current trends, service models delivery and technology, establishes relationships and collaborations grounded in positive dialogue and intercultural competence, skillfully manages conflict and seeks opportunities innovate and build collaborative relationships to meet goals.

    Other Functions

  • Performs related duties as assigned or required .

  • Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, Clery and other compliance requirements. 

  • Demonstrates capacity, skill, and willingness to engage students and contribute to student success. 

  • Understands responsibilities with respect to conflicts of interest and behaves in ways consistent both with law and with university policy. 

  • Contributes toward creating a positive and respectful workplace . Uses access to sensitive and/or not yet public University-related information only in the performance of the responsibilities of position and exercises care to prevent unnecessary disclosure to others. 

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor ’ s Degree.

  • Two (2) years’ experience supervising professional staff or four (4) years supervising graduate student staff OR Masters’ Degree and one (1) year of supervision of professional staff or two (2) years’ supervising graduate student staff.

  • Experience with assessment and/or program evaluation.

  • Experience managing budgets.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work frequent evenings and weekends.

  • Valid driver’s license.

    Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Experience with developing intercultural programs, trainings, or events.

  • Experience working in higher education.

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Proficiency with languages in addition to English.

    Physical Demands/Working Conditions

    Typical office environment activity.

    Work Schedule                                     

  • Monday- Friday, 8:30AM- 5:00PM.

  • Works frequent evenings and weekends.

Grade 28
