The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work under the direction of Professor Wen Chen at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The position is in support of the work on physical metallurgy, mechanical metallurgy, and metal additive manufacturing in the Laboratory for Multiscale Materials and Manufacturing.
Develop a program of research that makes significant advances in metal additive manufacturing, microstructure-property-process relationships in additively manufactured metal alloys.
Work closely with collaborators within and outside of UMass Amherst.
Supervise research activities within the lab including meeting with graduate and undergraduate students to assist them in designing their experiments, analyzing their data, and presenting their results.
When and if opportunities come up to respond to funding opportunity announcements, requests for proposals, or other possibilities for funding related to metal additive manufacturing, write and submit research proposals responding to those requests.
Publish scientific results on peer-reviewed journals.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
A Ph.D. in materials Science and engineering, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing with experience in either one of following expertise is preferred:
Materials characterization (SEM, EBSD, TEM, etc)
Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
$50,004 or commensurate with experience.
