Job Description

The employee will conduct research in Professor Jane Kent’s Muscle Physiology Lab in the Kinesiology Department related to her NIH-funded project on muscle function and aging. The postdoctoral fellow will assist with the conduct of all studies, analyze and present data, supervise student researchers and be active in presenting and publishing this work at conferences and in journals. The fellow will work with all members of the research team, including the Project Coordinator. The employee will participate in weekly lab meetings with Dr. Kent and her research team, as well as monthly all-team meetings related to the project.

Examples of Duties

  • Implement studies related to PI’s research program.

  • Perform data collection and analysis.

  • Conduct reviews of relevant literature.

  • Supervise the work of student researchers on this project.

  • Prepare abstracts, manuscripts, presentations, reports related to this project.

  • Maintain IRB and other compliance related to project.

  • Coordinate studies with with faculty co-investigators and their research teams.

  • Meet regularly with the PI to evaluate progress on all aspects of the project.

Requirements

  • PhD in muscle physiology or related field.

  • Evidence of potential for fostering a diverse working environment.

  • Demonstrated productivity in publishing papers and presenting at research conferences.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a research team.

  • Dacility with spreadsheets and data visualization using Microsoft suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of muscle metabolism.

  • Familiarity with literature on aging and muscle physiology.

  • Statistical expertise.

  • Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate researchers.

  • Experience with IRB protocols and human subjects research.

  • Facility with matlab, R, or similar programs.

Salary

  • NIH Postdoctoral Stipend
