Hopeful Journeys Educational Center is a MA Chapter 766 approved private special education school designed to meet the academic, social, and behavioral needs of children ages 3 to 22. JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: 1:1 Teacher ABA Counselor FLSA: Exempt REPORTS TO: Behavior Clinician JOB SUMMARY: The 1:1 Teacher ABA Counselor's primary job responsibility is to carry out behavior intervention & curriculum programs for students with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work 1:1 with students ages 3-22 2. Collect and accurately record behavioral, social, academic, and other data as required per student's specific goals and programming 3. Ensure timely completion of graphed data 4. Ensure behavioral strategies are implemented consistently and accurately across clinical systems in all settings under the direction of a behavior clinician 5. Use the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to help students socially, academically, and behaviorally 6. Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of treatment programs and communicate with the student's team. 7. Attend and participate in team meetings as necessary and requested. 8. Assist in the development of student books and maintaining materials 9. Participate in presenting student progress. 10. Communicate regularly with directors and supervisors 11. Ensure all required paperwork is neat and completed in a timely manner. 12. Ensure student and environmental safety at all times 13. Maintain clean and safe environment for students throughout the school and in student areas 14. Ensure effective communication between home and school with appropriate in person parent communication and home note documentation 15. Ensure that all team members demonstrate proficiency in using applied behavior analysis by communicating regularly with fellow 1:1 staff, supervisors, and directors. 16. Participate in developing data taking mechanisms and reporting strategies for clinical information 17. Participate in community outings with students including, but not limited to: swimming, ice skating, hiking, etc. 18. Other duties as required or directed by supervisors or directors. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education or related Human Service Field. Preference of at least 1 year working experience with specialized populations. Experience working directly with children with autism within a behavioral format preferred but not necessary. Knowledge of the federal, state, local legislation, regulations, policies and procedures that mandate and guide behavioral therapy practices. Ability to document in accordance with professional standards, state and local guidelines, and reimbursement requirements. Ability to interpret the evaluation data and write a comprehensive report. Experience using computers and an aptitude to learn computer applications. Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability communicate respectively and compassionately to child and their family. Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required. Be able to pass a background and CORI check. Valid driver's license in good standing and safe driving record.
