Responsibilities:

The Academic Assistant supports School faculty and the Dean with preparations for examinations, including exam coordination; preparation of seating charts and classroom set-ups; grading (using Scantron device or electronic examination platform); assisting with the examination review process; verifying attendance; archiving exams and assignments; and with preparations for laboratory sessions and examinations. The Academic Assistant may also provide support to the School in the planning and execution of School / Department activities and committee and service-related work.

Provide assistance with examination preparation, including copying and developing seating charts for exams throughout the semester. Review examination schedules received from course coordinators prior to the first week of a semester; prepare an examination grid and resolve any overlap conflicts. Reserve rooms for examinations and examination reviews. Prepare all rooms for examinations, including developing and posting an assigned seating chart, aiding in the set-up of the room for the examinations, and proctoring examinations and make-up examinations as needed. Grade examinations that utilize Scantron using Parscore. Notify the course coordinator of any Scantron errors as outlined in School policy. Prepare Excel spreadsheets and enter grades for examinations (including the PCOA and NAPLEX Readiness Examinations), quizzes and other graded assignments into Blackboard. Assist in rescoring requests and obtaining student Scantron analysis when requested. Assist faculty and course coordinators in the examination review process, which may include alphabetizing examinations, collating Scantron response sheets, or preparing examinations for posting during examination review. Provide support for the School?s transition and implementation to an electronic examination platform. Archive written examination, quizzes, Scantron results, and other assignments for storage. Assist in collecting and collating any in-class assignments associated with courses. Assign students to laboratory groups and rooms; facilitate equipment preparation and set-up for each laboratory session; inventory and organize laboratory equipment; coordinate and proctor practical examinations; prepare Excel spreadsheets and enter grades for examinations, quizzes and other graded assignments into Blackboard. Assist in the typing and/or writing of grants, manuscripts, or School communications. Assist in planning and executing school/departmental activities such as White Coat or awards ceremonies, commencement activities.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required: A minimum of a high school required; a bachelor?s degree preferred Proficiency in current office software including Excel, Parscore, Word, Publisher, OnCall Excellent oral and written communicate skills Ability to identify and solve problems, plan for job functions, and manage time independently Ability to be attentive to detail Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to seek feedback, and to implement solutions
