Boston University ACADEMIC COUNSELOR, College of Engineering, Undergraduate Programs & Records in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Provide counseling and support services to sophomore undergraduate students. Responsibilities include assisting in the coordination and development of programs related to retention of students, counseling students on academic program policies and issues, assisting students in making appropriate educational choices and decisions, and assisting with the academic review process. The position recommends appropriate interventions for students in academic jeopardy and provides appropriate triage for student situations. This position is an integral part of the Undergraduate Programs team and all services offered for undergraduate engineers. This position is critical to our undergraduate students academic and emotional success, and can have a serious impact on retention. It requires a professional with superior counseling and communication skills; one who is sensitive to issues of confidentiality and family dynamics.

Required Skills

  • B.A./B.S.

  • Masters degree preferred

  • Good organizational skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Sensitivity and the ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Requires proficiency with standard office software programs such as FileMaker Pro, Adobe, and Microsoft

  • 3+ years of experience
