In accordance with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and New Hampshire Board of Nursing, the Adjunct Faculty of the School of Nursing (SON) fosters the development of required nursing skill competency, critical thinking ability and application of nursing knowledge to practice.
Teaching Activities: Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and an awareness of new developments in the field in order to update the approach to teaching or content Facilitates student understanding of course content and provides remediation to assist students to achieve expected competencies Achieves consistently effective teaching performance as evidenced by student evaluations/comments/letters. Recognizes and addresses different learning styles in collaboration with core faculty Communicates with core faculty on a regular basis to track student progress or to develop performance improvement plan to support student learning In collaboration with core faculty, develops individualized interventions for students having difficulty Collaborates with laboratory faculty to support student remediation Provides feedback to core faculty on student preparedness regarding core curriculum and MCPHS core competencies Has a working knowledge of the MCPHS SON curriculum and the level of the participating students Attend course-specific orientation on campus with core faculty
Required: A minimum of a master's degree in nursing; graduate level adjunct faculty must be APRN Current RN licensure (or eligibility) in Massachusetts or New Hampshire Applicant must be in good standing with respective nursing board Certification in specialty as appropriate BSN adjunct faculty must have nursing education experience at the baccalaureate level; MSN faculty must have nursing education experience at the graduate level Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Attentive to detail Ability to work effectively within a dynamic team and in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment Ability to work effectively with a culturally and academically diverse student population Commitment to undergraduate education, graduate education, and student success Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Massachusetts-based faculty must have a working knowledge of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing 244 CMR 6.00 (will be provided during orientation) NH-based faculty must have a working knowledge of NH Board of Nursing Chapter Nur 600 Nursing Education (will be provided during orientation) BSN adjunct faculty must have knowledge of the NCLEX test plan; graduate level adjunct faculty must have knowledge of national certification exams for advance practice nurses
Physical requirements: Sufficient strength and mobility to work effectively with patients/mannequins/students and to carry out related nursing care responsibilities including lab activities. Examples: lifting and positioning (up to 50 pounds); carrying (up to 25 pounds), walking, preparation and administration of medications (oral, injection, intravenous, including hanging IV bags at shoulder height), bending and stooping Ability to sit for extended periods of time using a key board, and to ambulate between classes and buildings on campus. Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksite during scheduled work hours (face to face, online, or blended class formats) Normal range of vision and hearing (with or without correction)
