Job Description
The Lynch Graduate
School of Education and Human Development is consistently ranked among the top
schools in the country, offering programs in Teacher Education, Counseling and
Developmental Psychology, Higher Education, Educational Leadership, and
Educational Research. Driven by its mission of social justice, the Lynch School
has a strong commitment to urban and Catholic education. The Lynch School enrolls the largest group of
graduate students (approximately 1,000) at the University and maintains the
largest number of graduate alumni among the graduate and professional schools
at the University.
The Admissions
Specialist is key member of the Office of Graduate Admissions and Financial Aid
at the Lynch School of Education and Human Development. The Admissions Specialist provides cross functional
support for graduate enrollment and will effectively represent the
Lynch School at local and on occasion regional recruitment events. This position is
responsible for coordinating and processing approximately 2,000 applicants per year. This position will work closely
with the Assistant Dean and the Associate Director of Financial aid on the processing
of graduate student financial aid awards and the maintenance of the financial aid
database. The role oversees on campus
visits, informational interviews and will plan and implement all recruitment
and yield events held by the office. This position will also work with the
Assistant Dean to develop an alumni ambassador program for outreach to
applicants. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and updating all admissions
policies and procedures, weekly reports, student record keeping including
correspondence with applicants, competitor benchmarking and sample verification
of student achievement.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $43,250 to $54,050; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements
A
bachelor’s degree in education, arts and sciences, or business management is preferred.
3-5
years of professional experience, with experience in a higher education and
admissions setting preferred.
Strong
computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office which includes Word,
Excel, FileMaker Pro and PowerPoint software.
Knowledge
of the university’s UIS system and FolderWave, Slate, and Eagle Apps preferred.
Proficiency
with database management; experience working with software such as Constant
Contact and familiarity with webinar technology; and an appreciation of and
orientation to changing technologies
Superior
customer service, written, and oral communication skills.
Strong
attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, work independently, set
deadlines, and work well under pressure.
Ability
to represent Boston College and the Lynch School in an outgoing and
professional manner at recruitment and yield events.
