Job Title: GSE Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled GSE Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) such as baggage carts and deicing equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in mechanical testing and troubleshooting, as well as the ability to read schematics and perform electrical testing and troubleshooting. Candidates must have their own set of basic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform light and heavy repairs on GSE equipment.

  • Diagnose and repair engine mechanical issues (diesel, gas, and LP).

  • Troubleshoot A/C and D/C electrical systems.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics.

  • Work with generators (400 Hz and 28 volt).

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.

  • Read hydraulic flow schematics.

  • Use computer software to diagnose Powertrain Management Systems.

  • Repair 80 and 48 volt DC systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair Airstart systems.

  • Continue ongoing training to stay knowledgeable about equipment.

  • Maintain required productivity levels.

  • Accurately complete vehicle repair orders in a timely manner.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience performing mechanical testing and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to read schematics.

  • Ability to perform electrical testing and troubleshooting.

  • Own set of basic tools.

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Vocational training certificate or equivalent work experience.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Ability to attain an Airport-issued ID badge (must be willing to submit to a pre-employment background check).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous GSE experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of gas and diesel engines (3 years preferred).

Work Environment

Our work environment includes a heated hangar to ensure comfort during the winter, and large fans to keep cool during the summer. With a team of 20 mechanics in Boston, we are expanding due to additional business. The work environment includes both the hangar and an off-site location for larger projects such as full vehicle overhauls. Shift work involves seven mechanics performing work at a time.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
