This position contributes to the REI Co‐op’s success by effectively leading, teaching, and inspiring guests on REI’s single day or overnight outdoor experiences. Day Guides operate independently or under limited supervision; they primarily lead day programs and tours, and select overnight trips. They are responsible for program preparation, delivery and reporting, managing program logistics, assessing and mitigating risks, and providing on‐site incident management. REI Guides ensure guests participate in an inclusive, enjoyable, and interactive environment, and serve as subject matter experts and inspirational teachers, drawing from natural, historic, and cultural knowledge; they provide exceptional customer service and a high‐level of hospitality and personalization, while exercising sound judgement and maintaining group safety to exceed guest expectations. REI Guides model and act in accordance with the co‐op’s guiding values and mission. REI Guide qualifications vary depending on the type of program being led and the location of the activity.
As a Single Day Guide at REI, you will:
●Demonstrate technical expertise in relevant activities to ensure a positive customer experience.
●Prepare for programs including learning/developing content, preparing equipment and materials and coordinating program logistics
●Drive a 15 passenger van to transport customers and gear safely to and from adventure destinations
●Collaborate with other REI guides and staff to cultivate and maintain an enjoyable, social and engaging group dynamic through strong interpersonal and relational skills

The ability to guide all of the programs that we offer is NOT required, but more skills will provide you the opportunity for more guide assignments.
Flexible work availability
Combination of both defined and subjective skills
Driver's license, good motor vehicle record, Wilderness First Aid, and CPR certifications required
Clear and timely communication habits
Ability to problem solve
Excellent customer-service delivery
Desire to work on a strong, proud, and organized team

Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors.
The pay for this role is: $18.60 - $22.98 per hour .
