Responsibilities:

The Area Coordinator serves as a live-in professional responsible for the programs and services for residence life on the Worcester Campus. This is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position.

Oversees the administrative operation of residence life assisting the Director Facilitates student accountability for the Student Code of Conduct and the Residence Life policies and procedures Serves in the residence life on-call duty rotation, including nights and weekends Serves as a primary contact for on-campus emergencies or crises Serves as a mediator for roommate and/or community conflicts Supervises and trains Resident Assistants Oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programming offered in the residence halls Processes facilities and maintenance requests, and works to provide a safe and healthy living community Makes effective student referrals to support services and campus resources Coordinates the opening and closing of residence halls; maintains occupancy records and building inventories; facilitates room changes Is available, visible, and approachable to students within the campus community, and attends campus community functions Meets with students and provides support, solutions, and/or referrals as appropriate Serves as a hearing officer for student conduct matters Collaborates with other departments for proactive program planning, education, and effective intervention Assists students with diversity awareness to establish a pluralistic community within the residence and campus community

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required: A master?s degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field and experience in a higher education setting, experience in college residence life Demonstrated experience in college residence life system Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills and high proficiency in use of technology, databases, web page development, and social media Ability to problem solve, make decisions, and take initiative in a fast-paced office environment Ability to work collaboratively with other staff from departments across the University Requires an understanding of the educational, cultural and social needs of a diverse student population (domestic and international student community) Demonstrates the ability to work individually and as a member of a professional team, establishing strong working relationships across campus constituencies Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage confidential materials and maintain confidentiality when working on specific tasks or projects A sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and resources appropriately Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office
