The Undergraduate Law Program at Suffolk University (ABA approved) is recruiting applicants for a full time, tenure-track position in the Political Science and Legal Studies (PSLS) Department. The Undergraduate law program prepares students for law school and careers as non-lawyer legal professionals. The Department is interested in recruiting a scholar and teacher with a focus on Constitutional Law, civil rights law, criminal procedure, environmental racism, immigration law or public health law or another field of law focused on equity and inclusion.
The successful candidate will contribute to a rich tradition of community-engaged teaching and experiential education that prepares our diverse, substantially first-generation college students—40% of whom are Pell eligible—for careers and civic engagement. Department faculty take advantage of our location in the heart of Boston to design exciting real-world learning opportunities at the Court House and the State House. Close connections with Suffolk Law School (https://www.suffolk.edu/law/about) , which has top-ranked skills clinics, provide students in the Undergraduate Law program with rich pre-professional opportunities as does our thriving Center for Restorative Justice (https://www.suffolk.edu/cas/centers-institutes/center-for-restorative-justice) . The successful candidate will have a commitment to inclusive pedagogy and curricular diversity, mentoring and advising students—especially first-generation college students—as well as conducting impactful research. Candidates must hold a JD at the time of appointment.
The Political Science and Legal Studies Department has a strong commitment to student development by providing high quality instruction to a diverse student body. The PSLS department offers 3 undergraduate majors and 2 graduate programs: the major in undergraduate law (320 students); a major in political science, and a major in International Relations, a Master’s in Applied Politics and a Master’s in Global Public Policy. Faculty in the department are award-winning teachers recognized for innovative pedagogical practices, community leaders civically engaged in advancing social justice, internationally recognized policy and political consultants and active researchers and scholars. Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and scholarly potential. The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate level, and previous undergraduate teaching experience is required. Preference will be given to those who have experience 1) teaching legal research and writing; and 2) working with paralegals and/or supervising legal staff. The successful candidate will also provide evidence of engagement with research/scholarship and potential for publication in legal journals or refereed journals in law and public policy.

Position will start in January or August; preference will be given to candidates prepared to begin the position in January.
