About the Role

Boston University’s Office of the University Registrar seeks an Assistant Registrar. The Assistant Registrar is a multifaceted role in leading the external transfer credit operations at Boston University, with a focus on services for incoming students and transfer students. This role serves as a proactive leader who manages and evaluates staff and processes to optimal performance. The Assistant Registrar recommends updates based on developments in the field, and collaborates with partners throughout the University to ensure that external credit is reviewed and properly applied to student records if accepted. The role also manages related databases, websites, and communications. This role supervises two full-time Senior Program Coordinators.

The Assistant Registrar works regularly with Boston University Admissions, students (prospective, accepted, and matriculated), advisors, staff, faculty, and department chairs in BU’s schools and colleges. This role reports to the Deputy Registrar.

The Assistant Registrar’s primary duties include:

  • The envisioning and day-to-day management of transfer credit services for external credits and advanced placement credit for incoming 4-year students and transfer students at Boston University;

  • Managing staff to optimal performance;

  • Collaboration with University partners to ensure that external credit is reviewed and properly applied to student records, if accepted, and;

  • Management of related databases, websites, and communications.

    About the Organization

    The Office of the University Registrar is part of the Enrollment & Student Administration unit (ENSA). It supports the instructional and student progress endeavors of Boston University by providing quality services to students, faculty, academic and administrative departments, and the public. We supervise registration and the evaluation of transfer credit, maintain student academic records and record grades, issue transcripts, verify enrollment and graduation, issue diplomas, assign classrooms, produce the class schedule, schedule final examinations, and oversee production of the Bulletin and the Degree Advice system.

About the Candidate

A bachelor’s degree is required for this position. We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Has 1-3 years of related experience;

  • Has supervisory experience;

  • Can demonstrate advanced organizational and project management skills;

  • Shows strong attention to detail;

  • Is a strong written communicator;

  • Possesses strong technical skills (including database management and data analysis);

  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills;

  • Has previous experience in being able to work collaboratively with diverse clients, colleagues, and other populations and to resolve difficult situations diplomatically.

  • Is self-directed, and able to multi-task and prioritize effectively, and;

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and commitment to staying current on, trends in the field.

    The following attributes are desirable, but not required for consideration:

  • Experience in TES from College Source and/or Campus Solutions;

  • Website design experience, and/or;

  • Advising experience.
