Humana Associate Director, CenterWell Digital Design in Boston, Massachusetts

The Associate Director, Digital Design responsible for creating, executing, developing, and maintaining digital design elements across multiple platforms. The Associate Director, Digital Design requires a solid understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across department(s).
The Associate Director, Digital Design collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and produce digital content, graphics, animations, and user interfaces that align with organizational goals and enhance the user experience. Utilize common frameworks to build and develop interactive and responsive digital solutions that ensure compatibility, efficiency, and maximum value for the end-user. Support various business objectives, including product development, advertising, marketing, media, and communications. Decisions are typically related to identifying and resolving complex technical and operational problems within department(s), and could lead multiple managers or highly specialized professional associates.
Responsibilities
Set the overall experience vision and strategy for CW Digital channel experiences, ensuring alignment with business objectives product partners, and Integrated Health.
Guide and mentor UI, UX, research, and content professionals in best practices.
Foster collaboration between design and product teams for seamless user experiences – including with Integrated Health, Primary Care, Pharmacy, Home research and operations
Establish and lead design systems and style guide development, in partnership with matrixed partners to promote consistency at scale.
Champion design thinking as a core principle across the organization and own digital user journeys.
Drive innovation and excellence in user experience, particularly focused on senior needs, gain feedback from various cross-CW stakeholders and product leaders.
Develop repeatable Content Management, Land Pages and Template strategy that can scale across Product, Copywrite, and Marketing partners
Provide input and perspective on evaluating success of new designs and experiences.

Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in User Experience (UX), Human-Centered Design, Interaction Design, or a closely related field
A minimum of six years of experience in digital customer experience product management, in large and/or regulated corporations
Design Leadership & Strategy: Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and set a strategic vision for product design initiatives. Proven track record of integrating design thinking methodologies into large-scale digital programs.
Design Systems & Emerging Tools: Experience implementing and scaling design systems across enterprise-level products. Knowledge of design software, prototyping platforms, and collaboration tools (e.g., Figma,).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience partnering with product management, development, and analytics teams to deliver cohesive and impactful user experiences. Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence senior leadership.
User-Centered & Inclusive Design: Deep understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles, especially for diverse populations such as seniors. Strong portfolio showcasing successful user-centric projects, ideally highlighting user research, prototyping, and iterative testing.
Team Development & Mentorship: History of building, mentoring, and retaining high-performing design teams. Ability to establish best practices, workflows, and governance models to streamline design operations.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Familiarity with key product analytics and user feedback loops to continually refine design processes. Competency in interpreting quantitative and qualitative data to drive creative solutions.
Preferred Requirements
Advanced Education: Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field. Supplemental courses or certifications in healthcare UX, service design, or design leadership.
Outside Industry Experience: Background in consumer-focused industries (e.g., e-commerce, retail, technology) to bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to healthcare challenges. Proven ability to adapt best-in-class design practices from outside industries into a healthcare context.
Healthcare or Regulated Industry Exposure: Prior experience navigating compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA) or other regulated environments. Familiarity with clinical workflows, patient/member journeys, or digital health solutions.
Change Management & Evangelism: Track record of driving organizational change around design thinking, advocating for user-centric culture across various business units. Success in presenting and justifying design decisions to diverse audiences, including executives and technical stakeholders.
Global or Multi-Regional Experience: Understanding of designing for diverse populations, languages, and cultural contexts

100% remote role
Standard working hours required; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Central or Eastern Time Zones Preferred
<25% Annual travel to various Centerwell and Conviva markets

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$150,000 - $206,300 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
