Job Description

In the Office of Student Involvement (OSI), the Associate Director of Student Involvement serves as an integral team member in an office that manages over 200 student organizations, the Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC), and programs for 9,000 undergraduate students.

The Associate Director of Student Involvement manages the policies, procedures and implementation of the student organization program, supporting student engagement within a Jesuit, Catholic context.

The Associate Director provides direct oversight over the student organization handbook, international travel policy, community standards associated with student organizations and manages the relationship and training of student organization advisors.

This position supports a portfolio of student organizations.

This position oversees theSub Turriyearbook, supports the WZBC radio station, and advises the Board of Student Organizations through the Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC) including management of the new student organization process.

The Associate Director leads assessment initiatives associated with the student organization area and monitors and maintains budgetary controls and accountability for various programs.

The Associate Director directly supervises two professional staff members and indirectly supervises additional staff and graduate assistants involved with student organizations.

This position serves as liaison and advocate for students and student organizations with university departments that provide support for student programs, including but not limited to: Dining Services, BC Police Department, Campus Recreation, Event Management, Student Services, Media Technology Services, and more.

This position is located in the Office of Student Involvement (OSI) which includes the following functions: student organization advisement; leadership development, student government and student programming. The Office also supports the BC Bands Program; advising major events including Senior Week, Super Fan Zones, Family Weekends and supporting campus wide programs including Welcome Week and Homecoming.

Evening and weekend work required.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $74,750 to $93,450; salary commensurate with relevant experience

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required in Higher Education or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of full-time demonstrated progressive student affairs experience, preferably in the management of student organizations, student programs and/or activities

  • Understanding and supportive of the Jesuit Catholic mission of Boston College

  • Prior experience supervising professional level staff

  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in student leadership and/or programming

  • Prior experience in student group advising, student programming, and/or activities

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity

  • Comprehensive understanding of current student development and learning theories

  • Ability to work collaboratively with students

  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
