Capstone Partners is seeking a Market Intelligence Associate to conduct research on and author outbound market intelligence reports. The reports are essential to Capstone’s business development and brand recognition and are used by thousands of business owners, alliance partners, private equity groups, and news outlets as a valuable source of M&A information.
The Associate's core responsibility will be to work closely with the firm’s Managing Directors and Directors to write reports and articles that are posted on Capstone’s website and mailed to prospective clients. Additional opportunities include leading primary research projects, attending trade shows to build industry knowledge and BD skills, coaching junior team members, and assisting senior members of the team on new initiatives.
Applicants should have 2-3 years of business writing, market research, economic reporting, or other relevant work experience. Specific knowledge in one of Capstone’s 12 industry coverage areas is a preferred and should be noted in the application.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify M&A transactions using secondary research databases
Analyze micro and macro-economic trends for M&A impact
Write research reports and articles for external publication
Lead primary research projects including proprietary surveys
Work collaboratively with Lead Generation Services and Banking Teams
Copy edit and proofread reports for accuracy and adherence to Capstone style
Take on additional projects as needed
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree: preferably Economics, Finance, English, or Business
2+ years of experience in related field, preferably financial
Must be authorized to work in the United States - E-Verify Employer

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
Keen research and critical thinking abilities
Self-motivated individual who can work successfully both independently and as part of a team
Ability to work on multiple projects on deadline
Strong work ethic and high degree of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
Familiarity with Capital IQ, FactSet, and Pitchbook a plus

Compensation Range:
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
