The Framingham Heart Study (FHS; framinghamheartstudy.org), conducted by Boston University with the support of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), is a community health study committed to identifying the common factors or characteristics that contribute to cardiovascular disease (CVD). The latter biospecimens are maintained by the FHS Biorespository, currently composed of 1.4 million biospecimens, with the oldest samples datjng back to the 1970s. Most biospecimen-associated processes take place in the CLIA-certified FHS Laboratory, located at the FHS Research Center. Some biospecimens are stored off-site at the Fisher Bioservices facility in Franklin, MA.

The Biorepository Manager directs all work performed in the FHS Biorepository, including administration and data management, oversight of biorepository personnel, and oversight of processes involving the documentation, processing, storage and distribution of biospecimens from FHS participants in support of ancillary research studies, in order to ensure that high quality research data is generated.
