Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. The Clinic Coordinator is often the first face patients see when visiting our outpatient clinic.  You will have the important role of making our patients feel welcome while in our clinic.  As the Clinic Coordinator, you will be expected to coordinate and perform daily activities of the primary care clinic at Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program’s BMC Clinic.  This will include the scheduling of provider primary care clinic sessions and assisting patients through the complex medical system.  We are looking for a full time, reliable person with excellent customer service skills with a talent for multi-tasking and an ability to pivot job duties as needed.  If this describes you, we encourage you to apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a welcoming and pleasant front desk environment; serve as a receptionist and coordinator of patient flow. Assist patients with navigating clinic process and answering general questions about the clinic.

  • Answer multi-line telephone system in a friendly and professional manner. Schedule appointments for clinic patients as well as patients calls from shelters and hospitals.

  • Provide administrative support such as filing, photocopying, and faxing; send, receive, and distribute mail and faxes.

  • Assist Patient Benefits Coordinators with checking in patients during peak time.

  • Clean and organize work area and supplied to meet clinic needs; notifies supervisor of supply shortage on a regular basis.

  • Utilizes EPIC to access necessary patient information to correctly direct outpatients and visitors.

  • Utilizes interpreter onsite or interpreter phone line when communicating with patients or visitors in need of language interpretation.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policy; communicates all policy and procedure issues and concerns to supervisor along with any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions.

  • Conforms to BHCHP standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.

    Qualifications:

  • Customer service-oriented mindset with strong teamwork mentality

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; two years’ experience in a related field or a clinical environment

  • Strong computer skills, familiarity with EPIC, MMIS, and NEHEN systems preferred.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

  • Work requires ability to communicate effectively with others.

  • Requires the ability to handles patients under stress, and deal with stressful situations calmly and effectively.

  • Work requires ability to understand and follow directions, operate standard office equipment and a strong attention to detail.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    The compensation starts at $22.00 per hour and increases based on years of experience.

    BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of 4 weeks’ vacation, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount. In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases, additional compensation of seven thousand five hundred dollars added to your base hiring rate for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and the opportunity to work with local hospitals and community health centers.
