Boston University COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST, BUMC Communications Office in BOSTON, Massachusetts
Originally established in 1848 as the New England Female Medical College, and incorporated into Boston University in 1873, Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) today is a leading academic medical center with an enrollment of more than 700 medical students and 950 students pursuing degrees in graduate medical sciences. BUSM faculty contribute to more than 668 active grants and contracts, with total anticipated awards valued at more than $693 million in amyloidosis, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, infectious diseases, pulmonary disease and dermatology, among other areas. The Schools teaching affiliates include its primary teaching affiliate Boston Medical Center, the Boston VA Healthcare System, Kaiser Permanente in northern California, St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton, Mass., as well as Boston HealthNet, a network of 15 community health centers.
A key member of the communications team, the Communications Specialist will create compelling content for the School of Medicine as well as the Continuing Medical Education and Alumni offices communications vehicles and social media channels.
Duties and responsibilities:
Write stories for BUSM website (including Alumni and CME pages) 30%
Develop social media strategy and create posts/graphics for official social media channels (including Alumni and CME channels) 30%
Provide social media guidance, counsel and support to faculty, departments, offices 20%
Assist with website maintenance and content updates 10%
Assist with managing digital signage program 10%

- B.A. or B.S communications or related field, with 1-3 years of communications experience.
Excellent written and oral skills, skilled at multi-tasking, good time management skills, flexibility, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Microsoft Office, photography, video editing and production skills required along with social media proficiency, especially Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress.
