Boston University DIRECTOR OF BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE, SHS Student Health Services in BOSTON, Massachusetts
Boston University seeks an experienced, and collaborative leader as its next Director of Behavioral Medicine. Reporting directly to Judy Platt, MD, Executive Director of Student Health Services and the Chief Health Officer at BU, the Director will provide vision and strategic leadership, while working collaboratively with the other units of SHS, offices on campus and the greater Boston community. The Director of Behavioral Medicine serves as the chief mental health officer for students on campus and provides oversight to Behavioral Medicine and Sexual Assault Response Prevention (SARP), both of which are part of the integrated health center that provides care to the 33,000 students at Boston University. This is an opportunity to lead an incredible and talented multidisciplinary team of clinicians and professional staff, to ensure the mental health needs of students are met. As the primary mental health provider at Boston University, Behavioral Medicine provides clinical services, outreach, and education services to our student population. The clinical team provides short term treatment based on students backgrounds and needs. As a key member of the SHS leadership team, this individual will provide consultation and guidance to ensure continued success in addressing the continued changing needs of college mental health.
Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Social Work or MD or DO and board certification in psychiatry; Licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts
5-7 years' experience with leadership and management of clinical services, preferably at an institution of higher education
Commitment to innovation, evidence-based clinical care, and continuous program assessment
Well-developed cultural competence in the work environment with demonstrated experience working within a highly diverse community of clients and professionals
Experience with an integrated, interdisciplinary care model
Adept crisis management skills and demonstrated leadership in responding to crises
Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, oral and written communication skills
Skill in the use of technology, including an electronic medical record
