IHS Markit Economist in Boston, Massachusetts

We are looking to fill an Economist I position in our U.S. Macroeconomic Service. This person will be part of a 15-person team of top-notch economists that produces a monthly forecast of the US economy. The main tasks will be to maintain and update IHS Markit's US macroeconomic databases, write commentaries, proof-read, and assist senior staff.

This position a good fit for a recent college graduate intending to pursue a graduate degree in economics, statistics or business. Our preference is to hire someone to work out of our St Louis Office, but we will consider candidates with strong skills who prefer to work remotely or out of our Boston or New York Offices. We aim to fill this position as soon as we can.


  • Maintain historical databanks

  • Write reports on high-frequency macroeconomic indicators

  • Assist senior staff in preparing presentations and reports

  • Co-author chapters on the monthly forecast

  • Assist clients

    Education & Experience

  • B.A. in Economics with strong quantitative content.

  • Strong understanding of macroeconomic and microeconomics; good econometrics skills are a plus but not essential.

  • Strong programming skills (this is essential).

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills (essential).

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely (highly valued.)

  • Ability to work independently, diligently, and efficiently in a deadline-driven workplace (essential).
