The faculty member has the primary function of providing physician assistant education to our students that meets the needs of the students, the learning outcomes, vision of the program and mission of the University. In addition, scholarly pursuit, service to the program, University and community is expected to foster professional growth.
Faculty engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities, as defined in the University faculty manuals Participate in teaching selected lecture and laboratory classes and experiential activities Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum for physician assistant education that conforms to University, School, and Program policies and procedures Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum for physician assistant education to achieve and maintain compliance with ARC-PA standards Maintain accurate and appropriate records to assist with accreditation reports, accreditation site visits, and ongoing program evaluation Provide supervision, instruction, advice and counsel to students to facilitate the students? successful completion of all learning objectives Serve as an ambassador for the PAS program through participation in service activities Serve on wide and school-specific faculty committees, and participate in professional development activities
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
Rank is commensurate with education and experience.
Physician Assistants with the following: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies, preferred master's in PA Studies Current NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in MA or NH, depending on campus location. Candidate is required to maintain certification throughout employment. A minimum of three years of clinical experience Candidates without a master's degree would be required to obtain a master's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution within three years of hire. Degree must be one that is appropriate to the needs of the program as determined by the Program Director. Teaching experience in higher education is preferred Experience as a clinical preceptor is preferred
Physicians with the following: Current eligibility or unrestricted license as an allopathic or osteopathic physician in MA or NH, depending on campus location Certification by an ABMS or AOA-approved specialty board A minimum of three years of clinical experience Experience as a clinical preceptor is preferred
Health profession clinician with the following: A minimum of a bachelor?s degree in the related discipline If bachelor?s degree is not the terminal degree for the profession, the faculty member must obtain the terminal degree within three years of hire Current eligibility or unrestricted license in field of practice in MA or NH, depending on campus location A minimum of three years of clinical experience Teaching experience in higher education preferred Experience as a clinical preceptor is preferred
Non-clinician Scientist: Doctorate degree in health or social science related field Minimum of three years in teaching, research, or clinical experience
Candidates must have strong organizational and computer skills.
Physical requirements: Standing, sitting, manual dexterity, ability to move between offices and floors of buildings Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksite during scheduled work hours and to work some evenings and weekends Normal range of vision and hearing (with or without correction) Ability to lift up to 5-10 lbs
