Boston University Faculty Positions, School of Hospitality Administration in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Boston University invites applications for two faculty positions in the School of Hospitality Administration (SHA). Both positions are non-tenure track, one with the academic rank of assistant professor and one with the academic rank of associate professor of the practice—

  • One assistant professor position in hospitality financial management. Teaching accounting, finance, and related courses to both undergraduate and graduate students.

  • One associate professor of practice in Real Estate & Entrepreneurship. This faculty member will be expected to lead the Real Estate and Entrepreneurship concentrations at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and take responsibility for creating a real estate advisory council.

Qualifications: Candidates for the assistant professor position should have earned doctoral degrees in relevant fields. Evidence of effective teaching and potential for high quality research required. Candidates should be able to teach related courses. Experience in working with federal grants, international exposure and work experience are highly desired.

Candidates for the associate professor of practice should have at least a master’s degree in real estate or related field with extensive relevant work experience. Prior teaching experience is desired.

Expectations: Assistant Professors are expected to teach, conduct, and actively publish peer-reviewed scholarly research, as well as participate in professional and university service.

Associate professors of practice are expected to teach, participate in professional and university service, and lead concentrations in both undergrad and graduate programs.

All faculty members are expected to develop connections with industry professionals and to continuously update their expertise through industry consulting and scholarly activities. Faculty members are also expected to advise individual students and student groups, and to participate in school and university service activities.

School Profile: The School of Hospitality Administration at Boston University http://www.bu.edu/hospitality is a specialized business program focused on the hospitality sector, especially the hotel and restaurant industries, with a solid liberal arts foundation, with approximately 300 students enrolled. SHA is part of a major research university, located in a cosmopolitan city with world-class academic institutions and a vibrant hospitality sector.
