The Faculty of Psychology is a full-time faculty position, with primary responsibility to provide instruction in undergraduate psychology courses. Rank is commensurate with credentials.
If Instructor or Assistant Professor: ? Teach undergraduate psychology courses within the School of Arts and Sciences. These courses serve the Health Psychology major and the University core curriculum. Possible courses include, but are not limited to, introduction to psychology, research methods, human development, gerontology, abnormal psychology, health psychology, lifestyle medicine, and mind-body medicine. ? Provide formal and informal mentoring of health psychology majors and minors, including teaching courses within the Health Psychology career seminar series, as needed
If Assistant Professor:
? Fulfill service assignments related to the Health Psychology major and minor programs (including ongoing program development and assessment), and for the School of Arts and Sciences, and University ? Maintain program of scholarship in area of expertise resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual ? Participation in Open House or other University-wide student recruitment events, as needed ? Other service activities as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean of Arts and Sciences
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Department Chair or Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Required: ? If Instructor, a Master?s or Doctoral degree in psychology or psychology-related discipline (must be completed by September 2020) ? If Assistant professor, a Doctorate degree in psychology or psychology-related field (must be completed by September 2020) ? College teaching experience in relevant courses and evidence of teaching excellence ? Experience with student advising and degree programs preferred; and ? Record of scholarly activities commensurate with level and evidence of potential for continuing professional development ? Excellent organizational and communication skills ? Ability to work effectively with a culturally and academically diverse student population, Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues ? Commitment to undergraduate education and student success ? Ability to mentor and advise undergraduates with diverse career interests ? Ability to be flexible and shift instructional format in response to short-term and long-term disruptions ? Ability to develop a course contingency plan to shift instructional format
