Sponsored Programs is part of the Office of Research ( , a group dedicated to aiding the research community in navigating the lifecycle of their work, from finding funding to creating proposals to helping inventions find their way to the public.

The Grants and Finance Administrator is an integral member of a team that provides direct support for proposal development, preparation and submission of proposals to Sponsored Prorams as well as post award financial account management for an assigned portfolio of faculty. This role represents the faculty in communication and collaboration with university administrative offices and with federal and private funding agencies for sponsored research. This position is part of a Shared Services model and team which support faculty across various Schools/Colleges/Centers. For this position, the GFA’s primary assignment will be to support Boston University’s Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering. This Center seeks to build new biological systems with the tools and techniques of engineering and brings together our leading centers in these fields. The focus of the Grant and Finance Administrator will be to assist faculty affiliated with the Center in securing and managing sponsored funding for new and exciting research.

When needed, this position will back-up others in the Shared Services team - providing seamless coverage during staff absences or high volume deadlines. This position reports to Sponsored Programs and staff will benefit from professional society memberships, training and development opportunities and an expanded network of colleagues in addition to serving on our Advisory Council for Research Administration.

You choose where you want to work the majority of the work-week (on campus or remote). On-campus work will take place at the Center, which is located conveniently on BU's central campus.

Required Skills

This position is eligible for the generous tuition remission ( at Boston University.

Work experience: 1-3 years required

Education experience: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred

Strong computer skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to be flexible and work independently, and one to three years of related experience, preferably in grant management at an institution for higher education. Familiarity with SAP preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and bend to lift items. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products, catering and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
