Colleges of the Fenway Instructor of Chemistry - MCPHS University in Boston, Massachusetts
The Instructor of Chemistry is a 9-month, full-time faculty position that has primary teaching responsibilities for undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses, including a first-year chemistry sequence covering organic chemistry, biological chemistry and general chemistry for nursing, dental hygiene, and other allied health students.
Be able to provide instruction for didactic and lab courses in chemistry for allied health majors, the second semester of which focuses on organic and biological chemistry Be able take an active role in planning and coordinating laboratory courses, including creating new lab exercises, and communicating with adjunct faculty on grading and lab procedures Strive to stimulate learning and actively seek advancement of teaching and learning processes Work collaboratively with the Chemistry Faculty to improve students? academic and scientific abilities Work collaboratively with faculty to periodically assess and revise the curriculum Participate in school and departmental meetings
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Department Chair or by the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.
Minimum of Master?s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field; PhD preferred A minimum of three years of college teaching experience Demonstrated ability to teach large-enrollment didactic courses Demonstrated ability to teach laboratory courses Demonstrated ability to incorporate active learning strategies Knowledge of best teaching practices Ability to effectively use technology tools to support student learning, such as the Blackboard learning management system Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations Ability to work with multiple constituencies ? students, faculty, and staff Ability to proactively and constructively work with a variety of situations and people Excellent organization and written and oral communication skills Strong innovative and collaborative skills Ability to use MS Office Suite Ability to work both as a member of a team and as a team leader Knowledge of policies and procedures germane to MCPHS
